About SOS Driver Training

SOS Driver Training is a UK driving school offering manual lessons, automatic lessons and Pass Plus. The school also trains people who want to become driving instructors.

SOS works with learners across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and North, East and North West London, covering more than 70 towns, including Stevenage, Cambridge, Bedford, Peterborough, St Albans, Luton and Enfield.

With several services and a wide service area, SOS needs to be found for many different searches. A learner looking for automatic lessons in Bedford searches very differently from someone researching instructor training, and the website needed to reach both.

The Starting Point

Our first ranking check on 8 April 2026 showed how much ground there was to make up. Of the 30 keywords SOS should have been ranking for, 29 did not appear in Google’s top 100 results. In practice, that meant the website was not being seen by the people searching for its services.

The only keyword that did rank, “driving lessons”, was in position 35.

These were valuable, everyday searches that learners in SOS’s area were already making, such as:

  • driving instructor near me
  • automatic driving lessons near me
  • manual driving lessons
  • becoming a driving instructor

Our Goals

  • Rank for the driving lesson and instructor training searches that bring in new customers
  • Build visibility in every town SOS covers
  • Increase the number of visitors coming from Google’s unpaid results
  • Turn more of those visitors into inquiries

What We Did

Our work focused on six key areas:

Website Audit

We carried out a full review of the website to identify what was limiting its performance on Google and where the biggest opportunities were.

Keyword Research

We identified the searches learners and future instructors use to find a driving school, from “car instructor near me” to “driving instructor course cost”.

Service Page Optimization

We optimized the pages for manual lessons, automatic lessons, Pass Plus and instructor training so each one clearly matches what people are searching for.

Location Pages

We strengthened the location pages for Cambridge, Bedford, Stevenage, Enfield, Peterborough and other areas, helping SOS appear when learners search in their own town.

For businesses that serve multiple towns or regions, local SEO can provide a focused way to build visibility in the areas they serve. Instead of relying only on broad searches, location-focused pages help businesses target relevant searches from people looking for their services in specific towns.

Technical SEO

We resolved the technical issues that were making it harder for Google to crawl and index the website’s pages.

Tracking and Reporting

We monitored rankings and traffic throughout the project, using the data to focus on what was working best.

Keyword Rankings: 1 to 18 in Six Months
